~ Wind in the Pines ~
Is it true that the wind
streaming especially in fall
through the pines
is saying nothing, nothing at all,
or is it just that I don't yet know the language?

Oh this book is wonderful and delightful and a joy to read! It is about a girl who goes off in search of the Man in the Moon to help her family and her village. Includes a dragon friend, curious characters and Chinese folktales, and beautiful drawings. This book made me smile and laugh and even cry a little! Aesthetically the whole book feels good to read.
I just finished "The Dreamer" and it is fabulous, enchanting, spare yet abundant. It is about a boy growing up in Chile who follows his imagination and whimsicality instead of his father's rigidity and rules ... and grows up to be a poet who we all know (you must read it to find out! ... but a hint : “Laughter is the language of the soul.”). Set against political unrest and the modern world encroaching on the Mapuche Indians' land. Interspersed with beautiful drawings and poetry ... What wisdom does the eagle whisper to those who are learning to fly?
